You and your community
The vision we share with local residents is to maintain confidence and pride to the area and help all individuals in our community to fulfil their potential.
Our wide-ranging community programme is a key element of how we hope to achieve this. Our Community Development Team’s main task is to attract services and money into the local community.
Our most important principle is that we will only run activities or initiatives where there is a demand from local residents. Come and see us if you have an idea. Currently we work with over thirty community partners operating in the area.
We work closely with our local Safer Neighbourhood Police Officers, Shawn & Sarah, who are familiar with the local area and the issues it sometimes faces. They are able to provide advice and support to both local residents, and to your Old Oak Housing Neighbourhood Managers, for example in preventing anti-social behaviour.
Shawn & Sarah also hold regular “Cuppa with a Copper” sessions at different venues, including Old Oak Housing’s meeting room. This gives local residents a chance to run past the Police any issues that you feel would be useful to discuss.
Check out our page giving details of services provided by the Old Oak Centre.
Services include health and wellbeing support such as stop smoking services, women-only Zumba, relaxation classes for the over fifties and Stay & Play sessions for children under five, with their parent or carer.
Maternity Champions services such as our very popular Birth Preparation & Relaxation Class; after school clubs for 5-12 year olds; a youth club for 13-21 year olds; training & employment classes such as English, adult IT and employment support, as well as community events and much, much more.
