Pathways 2 Work is an award winning service which provides free access to employment, training, volunteering and business start-up opportunities.
Qualified and experienced advice and guidance professionals
offer a friendly and confidential service and operate in the areas of London and Essex.
The service exists to help customers to reach their potential by assisting them to overcome barriers that prevent them from taking their next steps into employment, training or volunteering.
Services are open to Family Mosaic customers who are:
- Age 16 and over
- A Family Mosaic Housing Group tenant
- Residents living in areas where we are working in partnership
- Willing to actively engage
Success stories are ever increasing. Nikita Alphonso – South & East Housing Administrator at Family Mosaic joined the Pathway’s 2 Work scheme back in 2010 and has been a Family Mosaic tenant for the past 4 years. After successfully completing the course Nikita secured permanent employment at Family Mosaic.
“I felt isolated before I came across the Pathway’s 2 Work scheme but I benefited by receiving help and support to get me back into the working environment. During my bi-weekly mentoring sessions with Paul Flavell I was able to plan, set goals and move forward. I felt comfortable and could talk about both professional and personal issues. The excitement of being able to change my career path was immense. I enjoy my role. Its lots of fun and no day is ever the same. I hope that in future I can use my transferable skills within the Family Mosaic Youth Academy which is an exciting prospect to be involved. Linking tenants into the service which Family Mosaic provides is excellent and Brendan Sarsfield’s drive for personalisation of service is what I have seen in action.”
Dele Adewumi has been a Family Mosaic tenant for over 10 years and has been a work placement on the scheme for the last few months.
“I am enjoying my time at Old Oak. It is good to be working within a supportive team. I am benefitting by refining and adding to my knowledge and experience in Housing Management which in turn enhances my CV and employment prospects. I have a manager that allows me to use my initiative in tackling given responsibilities. I intend to continue studying my part time degree course in Social Policy while possibly gaining some experience within support work. In the interim I will keep applying for available opportunities”.
